So I need to get a transducer for my Garmin Echomap 73sv and I found a used GT-41-TM for sale but I have a question.  The GT-40 says its for Shallow water (fresh) and the GT-41says its for rougher deeper waters (salt).  I guess my question is: will I not get get good shallow performance from the GT-41 as well?  Both are compatible with the unit,  I was jus wondering if I will sacrifice shallow water views because this is a deep water unit.  I do not fish ocean in my boat at all.

By "deep" they mean 100+ft.  Nothing you'd encounter bass fishing.  I've got 2 GT-40's on big old Lake Champlain.  No issues.

The specs make no sense with the GT-40 having more depth range--1900 vs 1500

that's why I'm wondering if it makes a difference.  I can get a used, but basically new CT-41 from a guy for a fraction of the price but I just want to make sure I won't sacrifice on the shallow depth.  What I mean;  if both units work the same to 40 feet, and one is just better at 100+, I can live with that.
