Got out and tried my new KVD 1.5s out. Was fishing the bluegill color, third cast i got a strike, swept the rod to set the hook, and bang. Wedged between two rocks. I tried all manner of getting the crank back. It was about 5 ft from the bank in 3ft of water.

As the thread title says, I put my phone on the bank, and stepped in. I was determined to get that lure! Sure it's only 5 bucks but this was only my third cast on a brand new crank! And this color isn't available locally so i would have ordered another from TW, and spent at least $50 to get free shipping lol.

I did forget that I had my smart watch on and plunged both hands in the water to lift the rock, but luckily it's water resistant and it didn't harm it.

Anyone else do any wading or swimming for lost tackle?

No, but I had the same thing happen to me with my ONLY black/chartreuse KVD 1.5 on the boat. I could see it wedged in there so I beached the boat and walked the shoreline to get my crank back!

whenever i am fishing from the bank i plan to get in the water.  ponds not quite as much but any creek or river it is pretty much a given for me.  I don't think i have ever went in to free a bait though now that i think about it....

If you've ever swam in water way too cold to be swimming in, there's a good chance you throw expensive swimbaits.

I did some wading to about waist deep in early April a couple years ago because I found a stump I didn't know about with an expensive swimbait while I was fishing from the bank. Water took my breath away and made my voice a little higher, but I got my bait back.

No, but I've gone in the water after a rod before.

Oh yeah, all the time. Specially for some of my fav lures that aren't available anymore. If its close and not too deep, reel the rod all  the way to the lure and push it forward (don't bill me for the NRX) comes out most of the time. Pulling it out the way it went in works also. As a last resort, take the plunge. My LC 0.5s and Combat Crank Minis  are coming home with me no matter what, H2Os are like that guy in the submarine movie that they sealed the hatch on....

i do it all the time when bank fishing there is one particular piece of structure the fish like to hold on that is very easy to get hung up in, but if you're not throwing to places where you may lose a lure you're not fishing in the right spots

I do it all the time. Sure, the lures are relatively inexpensive but no point in superfluous spending if I can attempt a recovery. Shoot, I almost went swimming for my Gatorade that dropped of the dock the other day. Wind was on my side though :D

BTW: Love my 1.5's. I'd go swimming for my Red Sexy Shad!

i was about to this past weekend when i got my chatterbait got hung up on a tree branch over the water. my wife thought i was crazy when she saw me taking off my clothes.  it was the chatterbait that i just caught my personal best a week before. luckily  i saw some guys on a boat and waved them down and asked for their help.

Never swam for a lure but did the plunge for a 4 pound largemouth wrapped up in a laydown. Unhooked her underwater about 6 feet down and set her free.
