Ethan, it depends.

On some bodies of water I love to fish by myself as the environment is beautiful, peaceful and I don't want to give up my favorite places to fish to someone else.

Selfish? Totally.

Now, after penning the above, I don't mind taking others who do not fish tournaments and hit my favorite spots. I know my locations will be protected since the guys I take out will not hit that body of water again until I take them out again, probably next year.

In tournaments, it can work both ways. Two heads are better than one and to have a partner you can discuss strategy and worldly issues is great. And your partner can take you to his favorite spots and those of others he has fished with in other tournaments.

If I get bored while fishing by myself, I have a transistor radio and I listen to ball games or music while fishing.

It boils down to personal preference.

Most of the time i fish with a partner who's generally a close friend maybe 2 or 3 people. I have the confidence that they won't give up my good spots to anyone else. That being said I also enjoy fishing out of my kayak alone very much, theres something about being up at sunrise catching fish with no one else around thats really special

Truer words have never been spoken. I love fishing alone in the morning (or almost any time) watcing the fish rise, watching the birds, and just enjoying the peace and quiet. Having said that I still fish with a buddy most of the time.

As a shore guy I like to fish alone.  I move around and trying to coordinate with someone can be a distraction.  If it's a place where shore access is limited and you're mostly confined to similar areas, I don't mind.  But yeah, part of why I like to fish is to be out there without the distractions of people or computers or machines or concrete, just me, the muddy ground, the plants, and the water.

I fish alone most of the time and am fine
with that arrangement. Suits me best as
with kayaking, if I'm with someone we often
go to our own favorite spots and end up
fishing "alone" anyway.

It's all good.

I like fishing on lakes or my canoe with company, but if I'm wading a creek or river, I like being by myself and work my way upstream at my own pace.

I love fishing by myself. I somewhat despise fishing with a partner. Unfortunately for me, High School tournaments almost always require a partner. I enjoy the time alone and time to relax.

I like to bass fish alone or with my son. We have a system. Panfish or walleyes, my dad's in the boat or a buddy.

I don't like to fish by myself. I have a creek full of smallies 1/4 mile from my house, I can walk down there and fish any time I want to but just don't care to fish alone. Yeah I can concentrate better, but I'd rather have company.

I fish usually with a partner but don't mind alone some too. From a safety perspective depending on where and how your fishing having a partner can be a great thing.

I'm 50/50 on this. Tournaments time usually means I've got a partner alone with me. Just fishing week days, I'm usually by myself. Then when my son comes over for a day during the weekend, it's us.

I do concentrate better by myself. But I never mind a person with me, we can usually figure out how to correct all what's wrong in the world by day's end. Problem is we forget what the  solutions were by the time we get back on dry land.

I'm retired and we fish 4 or 5 days a week and my best fishing partner is the Boss Lady. Very seldom go without her. She has become as good a bass fisherperson as I have ever fished with. You guys that leave your wife home are missing some quality time with them.

I fish out of a kayak.

I take my wife sometimes, and I also take a friend out here or there as well, but I find that I prefer to fish by myself for the most part. That way Im not a guide, or a tackle loaner, Im just out there to catch fish...

I am usually the only one fishing but am seldom alone. My wife goes out but does not fish.  I do invite friends to go with me but don't get allot of takers....maybe I am "that guy"

Both have their perks. If I'm trying something new, I like to fish by myself in case I bomb.

Owning a boat and being able to get on the fish pretty consistently makes it really easy to find people to go with you though.

I like it either way.The older I get the more I want to make a difference in someone's life.A great way to do this is fishing.I invite different friends over to fish a lot.And family. My son and me fish a lot.

That being said,I probably fish alone more often, cause my boat is 30 feet from my back door in the lake.I can quickly throw a trip together when I have a little window of time.

I enjoy fishing with others as I get older but it comes with inconveniences such as their time schedule.  (yup...I prefer mine).  As long as the good Lord lets me go I will enjoy both.  Not to many secrets in the South so I just lift up my day ..... leave an I Love You note to the wife and I'm gone.
