Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted April 17, 2016 Super User Posted April 17, 2016 Picked up a prolite special today for $5 at a yard sale its smooth and small.any input anyone Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 17, 2016 Super User Posted April 17, 2016 No input, but I will pay you $10 plus shipping. Double your money. I've got a couple of the older gold colored Carbonlites. They handle 3/16 oz. Shad Raps really well. The Prolite will handle lower lure weights as it is the finesse reel. You are one lucky dog. Congratulations on a super find. I should be so lucky. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 17, 2016 Super User Posted April 17, 2016 They are nice reels. There were several versions of that reel that BPS had made. Is yours the orange/gold colored reel? I have had a few and they are solid reels. New they were a bit over $100 or so. Used they generally fetch $40-60 give or take. I would say fish it like you stole it! Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted April 17, 2016 Super User Posted April 17, 2016 There were at least two versions of the "Prolite Special" - both were "special run" reels that had very little in common (other than the term "Prolite") with the earlier "Prolite Finesse." The Prolite Specials were offered for a short time, usually at sale prices, and were somewhat of a loss-leader to generate sales. They capitalized on the name "Prolite" but did not necessarily have the performance of the much-loved Prolite Finesse The Prolite Finesse came in three versions (PRL05H, PRL05B, PRL05C). The final version (PRL05C) is shown in the photo below. The REAL Prolite: Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 17, 2016 Super User Posted April 17, 2016 Goose, thanks for the information. I didn't know there was a "Special" and a "Finesse". I do know I would like to have one of the Finesse models....given what you posted. I hope the OP's reel is one of the better Special reels. Always nice to find an unexpected bargain. My Carbonlites weren't the bargain the OP got, but I feel they are worth more than I paid. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted April 17, 2016 Author Super User Posted April 17, 2016 Its the gold one it seems nice but the drag is sticky now that i played with it and not much adjustment from max to null .it just says special and a different front end then the one you posted its pointy it is aluminum framed though Quote
