Super User 00 mod Posted April 14, 2016 Super User Posted April 14, 2016 What category do they fall under for record purposes? The state records I checked do not have a category for coppernose- so what are they considered? " The coppernose bluegill is a subspecies of the common bluegill. It is not a hybrid. Native to Florida and southeast Georgia, it has a range similar to that of the Florida largemouth bass. " Jeff Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted April 15, 2016 Super User Posted April 15, 2016 IGFA puts them in the bluegill category. 1 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted April 16, 2016 Super User Posted April 16, 2016 Not trying to be a know it all, but I've never heard them called coppernose .I've only known them as copperheads my whole life in Florida.I always have thought they were just mature male bluegills. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted April 17, 2016 Author Super User Posted April 17, 2016 Might be a slang, but the subspecies name is coppernose. Jeff 1 Quote
