I am pretty new to all of these except the Spinnerbait.  I view these similarly but honestly have no idea when each excel. Maybe its wrong to view them similar, I dont really know. I would always throw the spinnerbait when they are chasing baitfish. Would like to expand my horizons. I have know a spinnerbait works well with wind, but when would a fishhead swim and swim jig work better? Is this too broad of a question? Would a swim bait work in similar situations??

I don't throw a spinnerbait anymore a swimbait or swim jig has replaced it for me. Swim jig in heavy cover and swimbait in more open water

Swim jigs and fish head spins are completely different and they are used in different situations. A swim jig I use like a spinnerbait, I treat it as a finesse spinnerbait as I fish it in the same places but it has no flash or thump, it just comes through cover and gives the trailer a larger profile. A fish head spin is almost a finesse bait, it was developed as a tool for suspended bass chasing baitfish off shore but it has come on in recent years as a cold water crawler being very effective in clear to lightly stained cold water.

They all have there place. And at times one will out fish the others. But I could never give up on any of them.I like the spinnerbait late prespawn, and the swim jig spawn to post spawn.I fish all of them from late pre spawn and all summer on deep fish too.

Spinnerbaits for points and the edges of cover along with deep humps and rocks.

Swim Jig for weeds.

Soft Swimbaits for open water and banks with no cover and non-points.
