I have a spool of Daiwa Samurai and Sunline SX1 in 30lb. I don't think I want to put 30lb Braid on my baitcasters and since these braids are both very thin and limp I thought I would put them on my spinning rod? Right now I have 20lb PP on my spinning rod and it's pretty old. I'm not worried about breaking my rod that's what my drags for so there should be no reason I can't use this stuff right? Bought it cuz I got it for a great price. And last, when I put my PP on I didn't use any backing but want to with this. Should I just use a small diameter mono as my backing or just use the PP that's already on it? Haven't had any problems with it slipping. Thanks guys.

I've run 50# braid on a 4000 series spinning rod without any issue.

30lb braid is usually 8-10lb diameter and pretty manageable, you'll be fine.

When I asked what pound braid to put on my MH spinning rod, the consensus was 30#.  It is a Daiwa Advantage 2000.

Ok then I'm putting it on, what backing? Thin diameter mono so it doesn't dig in?

I wouldn't use 30 pound braid on my spinning gear. I don't even use 30 pound braid on my baitcasters. I like that braid is thin and limp that's why I use it. The thinner the better, but that's just me. I have no idea what kind of fishing you do or where you fish so it's hard for me to tell you what would work for you.

Doesn't matter.  Your concern is that the braid doesn't dig into itself.  Should be enough braid on the reel that it won't get into the backing on your longest cast.  I have some cheap 12# mono so that is what I use for backing.

30# Samurai will work okay on an average-sized spinning reel, though it's about as heavy as one would want to get. It's too heavy for my preference. I prefer 10-20#.

Use El Cheapo mono as backing. It doesn't matter.

Have you considered trying to sell the braids on our Flea Market? 30# Samurai would work great for those who employ finesse baitcasters for shakyheads and such. That's what I use.

Using backing to cut down on how much braid I put on the reel. Yea I won't ever get into the backing that wasn't a concern.

Was asking about the mono as in using a thinner dia will help from keeping the braid from digging into it. Got the Samurai on sale but still don't wanna sell it as I'm sure I will take a loss. Normally I would use 20lb braid but I wanna use this stuff up and try it out in the process.

Just using this braid cuz it's what I have and want to try it out. The 30lb Samurai is the equivalent of 6lb mono.

I use 30lb. braid on both baitcasters and spinning reels, but I wouldn't use it on any spinning reel smaller than say a 30 size.

My wife uses 30 lb braid on her spinning reel all the time with no problems.

Yup another 30lb braid user on spinning reels here as well.

Doesn´t matter which diameter, you can always put a couple of layers of plumber´s teflon tape.

Years ago when I used a spinning rod, I had 20# on a 2500 and 30# on 3000. Don't remember ever having a problem with either.

So I fished the 30lb. Daiwa Samurai braid on my spinning reel a Shimano Stradic CI4 3000 this past Thursday and loved it. IMO it's a great braid, very soft and manageable. Fished in the green color and it didn't bleed all over everything, although it did rain a cpl hrs when we started. Had no issues w wind knots, wind was 10 to 15 mph. Will leave it on till its shot then will put the 30lb. Sunline SX1 that I have on as I never fished that line either. Fished it w a fluro leader and an FG knot with no problems. When I get home I'm gonna post a pic of that knot, it's incredible. I fished a good 12 to 15ft leader and had not problems going and coming through the guides and on off the reel. I know u guys know the knot but just want to show how mine came out, it's the second time I've tied and fished that knot.
