Single bladed spinnerbaits

Does anyone use a singled bladed spinnerbait besides at night? Would u use it in stained to muddy water also or just go to a double colorado or Indiana blade? Thanks

I've used singles blades in stained water during the day with success. I actually get more fish in the day with a single Colorado over double willows, and at night with double willows over a single Colorado, which seems to be the reverse of most people.

I use them at night, during the day, spring, summer, fall  and even in my dreams.  I love a short arm single spin (no trailer hook)  run across the top of a weed bed only to let it helicopter down the edge when I reach it.  It's also a great drop bait for ledges. During the summer, I switch between a Colorado and an oversized willow blade at night. Sometimes they just prefer that different vibration.

We use single colorado on the Miss river in high current areas. It helps slow the bait down and keep it in the strike zone longer, while putting out a loud thumping noise.

Single Colorado blade is a killer in spring time for me. I use a larger size so I can reel it slower. It's also great in dirty water.

I use single blades most of the time . I could fish a single size 4  willow leaf everywhere at every depth , in my opinion there is nothing more versatile .

Single Colorado blade is what I throw most of the time. Usually it is a 3/8oz single copper or gold blade with a chart./white skirt with a twin tail trailer. Most of the water I fish is muddy to stain.

Seldomly I fish with any other type of spinnerbait, ocassionally I fish with a double Willow or tandem.

I like single bladed spinnerbaits for erratic retrieves and in cold water situations. Pull the spinnerbait over a limb or other piece of cover then let it flutter down on the other side. It seems to me that a single blade "helicopters" better on the drop. For slow roll retrieves the blade gets rotating more quickly than a multi-bladed spinnerbait.

I like single bladed spinnerbaits as well. As a kid that was all I could get my hands on was a 3/8 H&H single nickle colorado blade. All the owner ordered was black and yellow ones at the little country store out in the sticks where I grew up. I made a mess out of those bass with my pistol grip rod and Zebco 202 with them.  I still catch myself wanting to throw that same color and single blade style more than normal.

Those are good lures to use on the mississippi river in the current . Dikes , rip rap banks, current  H&H spinners are made for each other .

 The guys on Lake Anna catch them in winter and early spring on single colorado blade spinnerbaits like it's nobody's business. I haven't figured out that bite but some people definitely crush them on it. When we get a ton of rain in the early spring everyone gets excited over there because it means the water will be stained and they'll eat the spinnerbait.

They are supposed to be very good in stained/muddy water and a gold blade is usually recommended. It doesn't seem like very many companies make them anymore and if they do there's not many color choices for sure.

I will take the typical tandem spinnerbait and remove that front blade assembly. Since the blades are on a split ring you can purchase separate size and color blades from Janns Netcraft, Lure Parts Online, etc. and swap them out.

That's definitely the best way to do it. Thanks for the leads to some of the places to purchase the different sizes and colored blades.

I like single Colorado blades expecially and smaller presentations like a short arm. They seem to work really well especially in smaller creeks regardless of clarity.
