Depending on the size of the chatterbait I use a gambler EZ or a rage craw. Most of my chatter baits are D&M customs so they come with a sick little grub plastic with a ribbon tail that matches the chatterbaits color pattern perfect

Slow rolling is always a good place to start. In more clear water you can give it a pause or two and let it fall a little, depending on your trailer. They'll pull a lot of fish out of grass lines and that are stuck to stumps and laydowns.
