TREVOR20228 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I am looking for the best jig rod and reel baitcaster to buy for about 200$ I'm mostly going to use it for swim jigs and football head jigs Quote
Wingman87 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 If your looking for a great reel I would suggest a lews tournament mb, they can be had for a little over $100 right now over on the bay and your getting something that performs closer to a $200 reel. As for rods my 2 main jig and t-rig rods right now are a duckett micro magic pro and a tfo tactical both in medium heavy. Those 2 rods I feel are super sensitive and fish more like a $200 rod. The "best" rod is very subjective and you will hear many different brands by many different people. Best advice would be to go handle a few different rods. That will put you right around the $250 mark, if your dead set on only spending $200 on a combo then a duckett ghost maybe your ticket, its a great value and reliable rod for $100. Quote

Thanks what gear ratio would you suggest for the reel Quote
Wingman87 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I just recently switched out my bottom contact reels to the 8.3:1 ratio, but anything 7:1 and higher id say would work out perfect for you. I'm a big lews fan so all my reels right now are lews and I gotta tell ya I have been perfectly satisfied with them. Quote
