Bass Dude Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I've made a lot of lures and now have a nice "line" of lures that catch fish. The situation I have is that I want to sell them, but at the same time, I don't want anyone else to have them!! Do any of you other tackle makers have this dilemma?? Quote
Super User slonezp Posted March 24, 2011 Super User Posted March 24, 2011 I'm not a tacklemaker but in reality there is no such thing as a secret bait. There is a time and a place for all of them. IMO It's all about the Benjamins. Quote

BriBass Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 yup! ull find the same feeling when u have unique favorite colors Quote
cadman Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I don't make lures but I do make jigs. If you don't want anyone to have them then don't sell them. If they are unique, and you're worried about somebody stealing your idea, than you will have to get it patented. Let's face it we are all unique in our own way. You should be proud if someone wants to buy your stuff. Quote

It just means that you haven't set the price right. The majic number for purchasing a Vodkaman original is more than people would be prepared to pay, so I don't sell them, I don't even try. Maybe if the economy picked up, I would sell a few. Dave Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted March 25, 2011 Super User Posted March 25, 2011 I have to agree with cadman. I don't sell but I give away to friends. If they like it and catch something with it, then it's an accomplishment from a personal standpoint. I make mostly for myself. I get a real sense of satisfaction when my lures catches fish. I don't post my lures here b/c my lures are kinda drab that appeal to the fish I catch here in the northeast and not to fisherman (my opin only), but I really enjoy lure building. You just have to make a decision as to what you want to do. I'm sure guys like cadman, GMAN, BIG M, Whittler, Fish Whitter, CCP, BoneheadJig, Vodkaman and I know I'm missing a whole host of others, get a ton of satisfaction by showcasing their lures here, and they should. They are extraordinary builders and these guys should feel proud of the work they produce and show us. It really is an honor to see the works of art here. Quote
Vodkaman Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I have never posted a pic of a finished bait. Painting is just not my thing. I can do it, but I just don't get the pleasure from painting that I do from designing and testing. The only time I paint up a lure, is when I am handing it out for fish testing. Dave Quote
