John F. Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 So I'm trying to take advantage of some time off and do some fishing. Every day has been roughly the same, bluebird skies and some wind or alot of wind. I'm in the treasure coast area, on foot for now. Fishing ponds and canals. I haven't had much time to fish because of work, now that I do I'm not sure where to start. My confidence technique has been senkos, t-rigged. I caught a couple dinks on a fly rod messing around with poppers but that's it so far. Quote
bigbasshunter Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Reaction style baits when the wind is blowing. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, buzzbaits and chatterbaits are the lures I'd start with. If your facing post frontal conditions then focus on worms and jigs in and around cover. Quote
BareHook Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Try the ponds at the St Lucie fairgrounds, just go in the side entrance to the office and ask, they'll just say catch n release only. They have a decent population of bass. Quote
John F. Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Thanks for the tips, I hope to get out a bit this week to try them out. I haven't had any luck with jigs so I don't try them enough, I know stupid but I have been ok with senkos when I do get out. Quote
Super User geo g Posted April 11, 2016 Super User Posted April 11, 2016 With the Blue Bird sky and sun over head the fish should be tight to cover seeking shade from the intense sun. Throw that senko in the thick stuff and just wiggle it and then sit, or pull out a swimbait like a Gambler E-Z swimmer and crank it through the pads. They are not wearing sunglasses so the best cover is pads, docks, weeds. Once the sun gets low I would hit the crankbaits along the weed lines. 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted April 11, 2016 Super User Posted April 11, 2016 Don't be afraid to throw the HB frog around the vegetation. You might be surprised at what happens. Quote
