I quit watching "grownups" play games and make insane money and cry because they didnt get enough. And then be to neive to know they will be some sort of roll model for kids only to see numerous times the drugs, harlets, and any other criminal or unsavory acts be treated as if it was no big deal. 

Life is much better fishing than watching the idiot show. Haha

I went to my gdaughters t- ball game and got there late for the first game.First thing I asked is What's the score.? The person I asked looked ate funny and said They don't keep score.I looked at her funny and said What's the point of playing the game then?.And she said The kids are just having fun.I thought dang, I had fun when we kept score when I was a kid.No wonder most of the kids look bored.One kid struck out and they gave him a fourth strike and he struck out again.Moral of the story is that most growth in life takes place from hardships and dissapointments.

It's redicioulus I swear the people who started that crap are the ones who have issues handling life. My daughter's FP softball was some of the last year's  of score. Competition was awesome the kids learn both sides. Victory and defeat have many lessons.

My nephew started playing football last year when he was 9 years old. He is a big kid that can move. They had him at inside linebacker. I told him before the game that I wanted to shoot the gap and nail the QB. Well he did and then the little **** ran to the sideline and gave me the thumbs up. The other kid is laying motionless. He knocked him out. All of the parents are looking at me like he is a monster.

Maybe I am alone on this one but if your 9 year old knocks out a kid and then runs to you while the person he hit is motionless on the field to give you a thumbs up then he is not the monster, you are for teaching him that was ok to cheer another kid's injury.

As far as keeping score goes it can go both ways for me.  My son played t ball and they didn't keep score officially but all the kids did, same for his first year of soccer.  Now he is a year further along and they keep score and so it isn't a big deal.

The first few years of playing a sport should be about learning about the game and instruction more than competition per se.  That time will come later on but if they don't build a love for the game then there will be no later on.  There are plenty of opportunities to learn about losing and winning.

I started playing baseball when I was 8.I was terrible.We kept score and we sometimes got hit with the ball and we sometimes skinned our knees ,_got lectured by the coach and lost games.Guess what? I was motivated to learn the game and did.I ended up playing 10 years in association ball then high school , then college.Then16 years of church league softball.I did it because I loved the game.I know a lot of guys who took similar routes and none of them ever complain about the hard things in sports.Kids are pampered too much nowadays.We weren't and we still loved it.

I hate those leagues where everybody gets a participation trophy and nobody keeps score to "boost the kids self esteem, because everybody's a winner!" garbage.  I really like the commercial where the soccer dad takes the sticker on the participation award trophy off.

I find it amusing as well that for how many centuries the kids played games with a score and the world went round just fine. To hear adults speak of the keeping score as if it was a torture or something these days says a whole lot about them.

The kids aren't the problem its the freaking parents. I have met and seen some that had a mentality of a 10 yr old and went way the heck  overboard. It wasn't the kids who ever had the audacity to leave the bleachers and make a scene with the coaches or umpires at a little kids game. But I used every time one did as a learning lesson for me and the kids as how not to embarrass your family looking like a redneck idiot. Of course I didn't say it like that. But it was very embarrassing to the kid whose dad or mom couldn't keep his mouth shut and watch the game.

I stopped going to games and even watching BB on TV shortly after the last strike,whenever that was. T ball reminds me of the DH. Or is it the other way around?

Still haven't figured that one out.

The adults do not have to keep score.

The kids keep score.

As for the sliding rule, I left major league baseball years ago after their last strike when I realized that they don't love the game. The players love the money. The heck with the fans and the love of the game.

Just show me the money.

The new slide rule is supposed to protect the players and was instituted to help the owners have less players get injured so the owners do not have to continue to pay a player who is on the injured reserve.

One would think the rule would make the game safer but of course, with grown men running around at full speed injuries will happen. Even in the outfield!

I love baseball, but (aside from the DH), the recent rules aimed toward speeding up the game and preventing injuries are an insult to the game. Players like Rose and Fisk would make fun of that kind of pampering of players.

I also do not agree with the "pampering" of our children. Life is filled with lessons at every turn. One of which being..falling on your fricken ass. The lesson learned in picking yourself up, and learning what put you there, is invaluable. Being defeated, losing, not getting a trophy, etc... are all lessons toward succeeding.

As for baseball, nope, I can't watch it anymore. Don't worry, basketball is worse (NBA anyways).

This foolishness should infuriate every NFL and MLB fan alike.

Regardless if one thought it was a catch or not, or a safe slide or not, but now and until who knows when, another one of both these games most exciting, athletic & critical plays can only be determined by this guy

the rule was needed. players should never been trying to do anything but land on the base safely. the new rule fixed that. check out this article, it explains it really well.

I played middle infield for about 8 years...I learned to get out of the way. Scars on my legs to prove it. So did everybody else when I slid. These pro guys can't read the runner. Very easy to predict how they will receive the ball, which side of the bag they will throw. They just give the "cookie cutter" double play.

Just like the catchers that block the plate without the ball and complain about getting run over. Baseball was a passion of mine and is getting really hard to defend these days. I understand they are trying to protect the players. Being a pro player, they should realize what they are getting into. I could go on but... I'll just get riled up
