Looking to add another rod to my collection. Last year I bought a st.croix avid x caster rod paired with a shimano curado and was blown away by its sensitivity. Absolutely worth the money and couldnt be happier. I want to purchase a spinning rod with great sensitivity for jigging. Want to keep it around $150. I have heard alot of good things about about fenwicks elite tech bass rods. So as of now only rod on my radar is a 7' medium fast action fenwick elite tech bass rod. Mainly target smallouths on the river.Suggestions?

Thanks fellas

The elite tech smallmouth rods which are discontinued were GREAT rods for the price, the new elite tech bass rods not so much imo.

I would spend the extra 50 bucks and get a 7' medium avid spinning rod.

I'm also a big fan of Okuma spinning rods, C3-40x  M/L on sale @ TW for $130, great sensitivity, warranty & lightweight

no complaints from me

I've heard from a couple of other people on a different forum that the Elite Tech Smallmouth rods were hands down their favorite rod for sensitivity and just being flat out fun to fish with.

I absolutely love the St Croix Mojo Bass rods... Very sensitive, incredibly comfortable, and a little below your price range.

The ET Smallmouth rods are awesome and the new bass line is ok but in my opinion they listen to too many people. Instead of adding a few longer lengths and maybe tweaking the reel seat a little, they went and added power to the rods to the point they are a lot heavier than the smallmouth rods they replaced. They are well balanced which makes them fell ok but it is hard for me to use one when I have the smallmouth rods which are better. If you can hang on for a memorial day sale, you will be able to get a Fenwick Aetos spinning rod, the 7' M-F is a very good rod, the sensitivity is just fantastic and they go for $179.99 but there will be sales and you'll be able to snag one memorial day for the price you want.

Always tough choosing which rod to buy does it have to be "species" specific? Those fenwicks were great rods I had a 7ft medium lite sold a boat the guy wanted ghe rod too! Oh well with the myriad of piscatorial catchers out there good luck just remember bring your reel when you get your rod. Oh! For the money I love the skeet reese rods! Junebugman

Shimano Zodias, Phenix M1 or Bass Recon 2. Slightly more than your target price but look for deals to put them in your target price range.

I had an elite tech smallmouth for a while and absolutely loved it. When it broke casting a jerkbait (no idea why) fenwick replaced it with the new elite tech bass. I got the 6'9 medium and it really is a nice rod, but given the choice I would pick the smallmouth over it. I think you'd be pretty happy with the elite tech bass though.

I hear great things from the Okuma Helios spinning rod my buddy has. Also a little cheaper than your price is the Carbonlite. I have two of these and love them. My dad has a St Croix and it is easily equal if not better sensitivity wise. Just my two cents
