TxHawgs Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 What sz. L or XL covers for 7'1" 7'5" 7'7" rods? 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted April 7, 2016 Super User Posted April 7, 2016 Doesn't it say? I'm guessing you're not buying rod glove or bps brand. They state the size. If I had to fathom a guess. The large would be fine for 6'6" to 7', the xl would be for the longer ones. But that is just an educated guess. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 7, 2016 Super User Posted April 7, 2016 It's listed on their site. Quote
TxHawgs Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 It's listed but in the reviews guys complain about the normal sz. for anything 7ft or over so wanted to get some opinions from guys on here. Quote
DCales84 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I just bought two XL sized casting rod gloves and they are super long... I recently bought a Lews TP1 7'6" and the XL cover comes down to within about 2-3 inches from the reel seat. On my Lews TP1 7' an XL cover will all but touch the reel. If your looking to just have protection for the guides the normal sized covers work well but if you want to keep the entire rod from being banged up the XL's may be for you. Also keep in mind that the longer rod gloves make it harder to store if you like to keep baits tied on as well. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted April 7, 2016 Super User Posted April 7, 2016 Depends where you want the rod cover run to go down to. I like mine to go down a couple inches above the Hook keeper so it touches the top of the bait. I hate them being shorter and having a 12 or more inch gap in between the Lure and the bottom of the rod cover. Anything 7'3 and over i get the xl (for rods up to 8.5ft). Quote

TxHawgs Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 What DCales and iabass posted is exactly the info I was looking for. The regular and xl fit different sz rods different ways no matter the manufacturer recommendations. Depending on rod length u can have it come right down or close to the front grip or have it well above it. Well above is what I want so I can keep my lures on without the cover interfering with the lure. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 8, 2016 Super User Posted April 8, 2016 I just make it the length I want for the rod it's going on so they'll fit how I want. Quote
