JigMaster4 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I was wondering if anyone had any input on the Strike King Red eye shad and the Berkley Warpig, any info would be appreciated as I am looking into getting some new cranks. Thanks! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 7, 2016 Global Moderator Posted April 7, 2016 They're both very good baits. I carry both and would suggest anyone to do the same. The RES is better for stop and go retrieves because they shimmy on the fall. The Warpig shines when you're grinding a bait through rocks because of the design of the nose. 1 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 The Red Eye Shad is a solid choice and won't break your bank. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted April 7, 2016 Super User Posted April 7, 2016 Both are quality baits that aren't too expensive. I'd recommend getting both in colors that you like to use and trying them out. If you find you prefer one over the other, then stock up on them. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 8, 2016 Super User Posted April 8, 2016 The Red Eye Shad is my favorite. Every year I try others..........most don't stay in the boat. The Red Eye Shad has been in the boat from the minute I first knew about them. IMHO, like someone else said...........they are the best "stop and go" lipless becaue of the "senko like" shimmy they have on the fall. They are also excellent baits for ripping out of grass....................you'd think all lipless baits would excel in this, because of the nature of the design...........but they all DO NOT do this well. The only other baits to even make a part time appearance in my boat consistently through the last few years are/were the old X-calibur one knockers...........just because of the one knocker sound. But now that SK makes a knocker style, I am going to give that a try as well as the new Booyah one knocker.........which is "supposed" to be the same as the old X-calibur's. If pike are really chomping lipless baits with a vengeance, and I am tired of losing Red Eye Shads, I tie on Storm's lipless bait.........the Rockin Shad.......I usually have a bunch of those on hand that I pick out of the clearnace bins at Gander Mtn. and Walmart. Funny thing is, my two best days last year with lipless baits were with the Storm. 1 Quote

The Booyah One Knocker is a solid continuance of the X-calibur. They are the only lipless crank I like better than the RES. I did not know that SK was making a knocker style lipless. I will have to check it out. Also the Yo-Zuri 3DS vibe is worth a look. They have produced well for me lately...particularly the "Sexy Shad" Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted April 10, 2016 Super User Posted April 10, 2016 The Xr50 had been my "go-to" for years, but the RES has replaced it in my line-up. Quote
