Hello,

Do small pond fishing mainly.

Nothing "big" in it, but lots of smallmouth and largemouth.

Usually fish 3 inch or so plastic worms.

Have been given a few packs of 6" worms that I would like to try, but not sure how to rig them.

Question.  For a 6" worm, the hook is likely to be no more than, say, an inch or so back from the leading edge.

No problem with the 3" size, but for a 6" worm, would, e.g., a 1 lb large or smallmouth still swallow enough of the worm to actually get to the hook ?

Or, is there a better way of rigging these "larger" size worms that I should use ?

Thanks,

Bob

try a standard texas rig. a small bullet weight and a 3/0 offset worm hook. a 6" worm is awful hard to beat with fish that size, and bigger.

Yep, I throw a 4/0 flipping hook on an 8'' worm, and even then the hook is only about an inch and a half of the length, doesn't cause me any concern, particularly because bass typically like to eat things head first, where the hook is.

Just rig it as you usually do. I'm in Florida and use 12" worms most of the time. I catch a lot of 10 " bass on 12 " worms.

you'll be surprised and how small of a fish will eat a worm up to 9" or more even.  one of my go to baits is the netbait super t mac, it's 9".  i'll catch 1lb bass on that worm all day long.
