fisherrw Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Which reel do you think is better fk or ci4 I can get them both for the same price. Thanks Quote
Capt.Bob Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 If it is the Ci4+ go fer it, if you are referring to the older Ci4,,,,, buy the FK,,, I would buy the FJ Stradic over the old Ci4! Quote
Super User tomustang Posted April 6, 2016 Super User Posted April 6, 2016 There is nothing wrong with the any CI4's. I've replaced FI's and FJ's with CI4's and +'s. Once you go with the lighter reel it's hard to go back. 1 Quote
Nick S Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Lighter isn't necessarily a good thing imo, I like my ci4+ 4000 but the two ci4+ 2500's I had were too light to balance well on any of my spinning rods. I'd go with the fk or an fj if you can find one. Also take a look at the daiwa luvias spinning reels, I prefer them over any stradics I've owned. Quote
HookdUP Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Ci4+ and it isn't even close there's nothing like it for 220 out there my excense ci4 + 3000hgm is Much more money and actually smoother but I still end up fishing the Stradic more . 1 Quote
EllisJuan Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I bought both a FK and CI4+ at the same time. I still have the FK...the CI4+ has moved on. I just like the way the FK feels better. I rarely fish a spinning set up all day to where the weight would make a difference. Quote
Nick S Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 The fk 2500 only weighs 8.3oz, that is extremely light for a 2500 size spinning reel. Quote

I agree with that. I only have one rod that a CI4 2500 feels good on, my 6'10" Mag-light NFC dropshot rod. They're just too light for any of my MLs and Mediums. 1 Quote
d-camarena Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I have both, the ci4 i think is smoother. But its hard to get to balance on a rod unless its a zodias. The fk is a great all around reel, and i like the knob better. I use a 4000 size fk for frogging and punching. I have never felt overpowered by a fish Quote
fisherrw Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Thanks for all the replies guys! Getting a ci4 2500 shipped to me right now. 2 Quote

Super User tcbass Posted April 24, 2016 Super User Posted April 24, 2016 Great choice. I bought a new Ci4 and FJ and the Ci4 is incredible. Gonna buy another one this year hopefully. Quote
