RHuff Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Traveled from WV to visit some family in southern GA for a long weekend. They happen to have an 8 acre private pond that was built in the early 70s. It is a great fishery with bream, largemouth bass, and grass carp. The whole front half of the pond that edges their home is grass bank and the whole backside is downed structure with fallen trees and a few bushes. Got to fish there on Friday evening through Sunday night. The bass appeared to be fanning beds and boy they were feeding to prepare for spawn. I caught around 15-20 bass per day. By far, the best producing lure I fished was the Rapala Shadow Rap Shad. I used the black/silver with orange bottom. I don't know if it is because they were feeding or just because they've never seen anything like that before but I caught bass in all sections of the pond at all times of the day. I also caught quite a few bass on a black/red buzzbait, a green pumpkin shaky head, a white spinnerbait with a single gold colorado blade, and a silver/glimmering blue double willow leaf bladed spinnerbait. RHuff Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 There has been 3 over 10lbs each caught out of it. My largest was 3 pounds caught on that RSR around midnight friday night. Most others were between 1 and 2 lbs but still had a great weekend! Any bass fish is fun to catch. I'm jealous of you guys that have access to waters like that year round. Makes me wanna move south LOL. Quote

RHuff Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 I'm from the Beckley area. We fish Plum Orchard (My Avatar), Lake Stephens, RD Bailey Lake, and Summersville Lake. My fam also has a camp on the Greenbrier River near Talcott, right outside of Hinton. Quote
