Fishin' Fool Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 How do the regular action blanks from Japanese rod makers compare to American rod makers? Is it a true moderate or moderate fast or do they run a little faster or slower? Thanks. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 It's all subjective and can vary from brand to brand regardless of the company's home country. 1 Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Okay specifically speaking the Daiwa Zillion. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 5, 2016 Super User Posted April 5, 2016 Haven't fished a zillion rod but the regular taper on the Tatula rod I had was more mod/fast slightly more on the fast side. My friend just switched all his Tatula rods for Zillions. I can ask him if they fish the same. 1 Quote

It's not really a Japanese Brand. Same with Shimano. So hard to tell. But JDM (real Japanese rods) tend to be slower than US Rods. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted April 5, 2016 Super User Posted April 5, 2016 When you see the term "regular" for action or taper look to the power of the rod to get a better idea of the action. The regular taper on Daiwa rods differs depending on the power, the MH rods tend to have a mod-fast taper while medium and medium light tend to be more moderate. 1 Quote
