Bass Turd Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I have two CI4+ Chronarchs and a Curado I. They all seem to have the same SVS Infinity braking system. I know I am supposed to oil the brake cone occasionally to keep them working properly. A pain but ok. They sure sound terrible when they dry out. I have noticed that 2016 Shimano offerings have a different colored brake blocks (white instead of red). Does anyone know why they changed them? Do they eliminate the oiling problem? Can or should they be changed? Thanks for any information and advice. Quote
HookdUP Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Still need to be oiled .. The system did change in that regard Quote
GetJigginWithIt Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 My citica came with the red ones like my curado. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted April 5, 2016 Super User Posted April 5, 2016 The colors represent different braking weights..can remember the order but im sure someone will chime in. Quote
offsidewing Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 The new braking system on the Casitias, Scorpion/Curado 70, and Met MGL is different than the existing SVS Infinity system. The brass cone is larger creating more contact area with the brakes. The brake pads themselves are completely different looking. The advantage is you don't have to open the reel and adjust the brakes as much. I have the Scorpion 70 and I find myself only having to adjust the external dial to switch between Senkos, Fat Ikas, and Keitech Swim baits. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted April 5, 2016 Super User Posted April 5, 2016 White/grey/clear are the lightest tabs red is the middle grade green applies the most and are thicker dont know about the current shimano lineup but the chronarch e and prior came with different color brake tabs in a small bag with a handle wrench. I didn't know which model to call out. iabass8 I believe you are taking about the older VBS system vs the newer SVS Infinity braking system. Does anyone have a side by side casting comparison from the new Casitas vs Chronarch CI4+ or any first gen SVS vs second gen SVS? Quote
HookdUP Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Give me a second I will open up my ci4 and a Metanium Quote
