@Raul - lives in Mexico

@Big-O - does this several times a year

I have been to Mexico more than a dozen times in the last several years. But always fly down. I have only fished Lake Baccarac for bass, but have done a ton of saltwater fishing as well while down there

Welcome

I used to live in Mexico but a totally different part. Where I lived the cops could stop you for no reason and be prepared to pay them off even if you did nothing wrong. I never ran afoul but several people I know did. The people and the food is awesome for the most part.

Zimapan, one of my most favorite places to fish ever. ;) Zimapan is about a 2 hr drive from Queretaro, pass Queretaro, take the road to Peña de Bernal, Ezequiel Montes, Cadereyta, pass Cadereyta take the road to El Palmar, pass el Palmar and take the road to the town of Zimapan, almost right after leaving El Palmar you'll find the road to the lake, my take ? Don't bring your boat, you won't need it, better rent a bass boat at the lake, it's cheaper and you don't have to tow the dang thing for hundreds of miles. To fish from a boat you'll need a fishing license, the cost is around 25 dollars but you can use it to fish any lake in any state since it's federal.

No need to, I don´t know where you guys get the idea that the entire country is a war zone, 99.99% of the time and 99.99% of the places you go around doing your everyday life without worries, of course, you get the idea from the news, as usual, like in every place in every country there are rough spots you should avoid. I remember when I went to St Louis to the Purina International animal nutrition congress I was told not to wander around downtown because I could get mugged, hell, I´m chilango ( kinda like being a New Yorker ), I fear nothing ( specially when I want a Wendy´s burger at 10 PM and Wendy´s is three blocks away ).

no doubt Raul!  if you watch the U.S. news, and believe all that garbage they spill, you'd be afraid to go anywhere!!

i've been to mexico a half dozen times, maybe more now and have never felt one bit worried for my safety....  i've been in some spots around here in Atlanta that had me WAYYYYYYYYYY more nervous, no doubt about it!  i mean i fished a spot near my office about a month ago that had me a little sketched out to be honest, even the police officer that i spoke to and gave me "permission" to drive my truck down to the pond told me to be careful in the area!

The guide I hired for my Falcon trip also does guided trips to Sugar and he is constantly saying that Sugar will produce your PB for sure.

I'd love to go to Sugar or Baccarac but wouldn't hire him again.

 I have gone to Mexico for vacation more than once and I recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it.It has its bad areas which are best to stay away from,but the good areas far outweigh them.Its definitely a place worth visiting!
