detroit1 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Well I finally broke myself free of being a Lion season ticket holder for the last 35years. It was a tough decision believe it or not, I mean 35 years is a long time my friends. But , they of course HAD to raise the ticket prices again and I see no reason to keep going other than my fellow season ticket friends sitting around me. 1981 was my first season and tickets in the endzone at the Silverdome were $100. 1982 they went up to $125 per year/ per ticket. 1985 we got front row, 6 yard line tickets and they were $175. Then the beautiful new Ford Field came along, and I got to stay in the front row (even with the back endzone line) but I think the price then was around $700. Well, this season $100 more than last to make them $880 per year. I know this is cheaper than 3/4 of the league's price, but this IS THE LIONS! THEY WERE 0-16!! They have 1 home playoff win since the year I was born. 1957 fer cying out loud. I could understand increasing prices IF YOU HAD A GOOD TEAM THAT MADE THE PLAYOFFS once in awhile...sec. 111 row1 seats 1 & 2 signing out. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 It really sucks that game ticket pricing has gone through the roof. It's getting more and more expensive it seems every year as well. As a 49er fan and season ticket holder, I can understand your frustration. The fact that we're in the heart of 'silicon valley' only makes it worse I think. Quote

lecisnith Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 The last time I went to a Lions game it cost a total of $400. That includes tickets, gas for the 500 mile round trip, hotel room, and something to munch on at the game. I thought it was well worth it. I would totally buy season tickets if I lived within a 50 mile radius. That being said, I still understand your point. Quote
mrmacwvu1 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 It is getting this way for all of sports. They are pricing the average fan out of the game. I used to have season tickets to WVU for many years and the same thing happened. Prices kept going up. Then about ten years ago it got to the point that every game was on TV somewhere. With the newer HD tv's it is just easier to stay home have some friends over drink some beer and watch the game. 1 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 I feel your pain. I'm not a season ticket holder for any sport, but I try to take my daughter to at least one Red Sox & Bruins game each season. I found four lodge seats to the last Bruins game. They were $1,000 before fees. Not bad for a team unlikely to get to the playoffs this year.... Quote
Fish the Mitt Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 A guy I work with is a season ticket holder (as was his parents). Keyword: was. My co-worker made the plunge but his parents finally backed out for the 2016 Season. With the financial burden, you'd expect some results. Some fruition of your hard work - but nope, it's the Lions, where we judge our seasons greatness on how many games we "could've" won. Quote
detroit1 Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks for the replies, friends. The thought of me spending what averages out to be $50 every single week throughout the year was driving me insane. A new fridge for the mrs., a new graph, 2 batteries, and new reel coming my way. Thanks Lions., .something good can actually come of this. Go Lions!! Quote

The Bills playoff streak just turned 16 and can drive now.. Quote
