josh colley Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 what do yall think is my best lure choice when winds are 15-20 mph and stained water with about 6-8" of visibility. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 What's the water temperature? Without knowing the water temperature, I would probably pick a chartruse spinnerbait with an oversized Colorado blade. Quote
papajoe222 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Welcome to BR. I'd answer your question, but the most important information for this time of year is water temp. Depending on your location the fish could be in early to late pre-spawn, or may already be on beds. A little more information will get you what you want. 1 Quote
Super User geo g Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 I would pick three. A prop bait, swim bait, and a spinner bait. I would use a drift bag to slow the drift. Let the wind work for you, don't fight it. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Without knowing a whole lot as far as your location & perhaps some of the characteristic of the body of water you're fishing, both a spinnerbait & a chattterbait are effective baits. Octanitrocubane might be something to check out as well. Good Luck A-Jay 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 4, 2016 Global Moderator Posted April 4, 2016 I'm guessing your water temps are still pretty cool right now since they are most places still. A spinnerbait with double colorado blades or tandem colorado/indiana blades is a good one for those conditions. Quote
josh colley Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 water temps are in the high 50's and low 60's. thank you all for the help! Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 big chartruse spinnerbait with an oversized Colorado blade should work. 1 Quote

Super User Darren. Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 Welcome aboard! Welp. I fished the wind today. Had a few choice words for it, as well. Caught only 2 bass and both on drop shot. So hey, there ya go. Dropshot, or weighted wacky... My .02. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 Darren... you are GOOD? I've never been successful when I rigged a spinnerbait on my drop shot... oe Quote

Unless I missed something, the OP didn't mention spinnerbaits...so I only mentioned what worked for me today. Frustrating day. Spinnerbaits were def on my mind at times, though. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 I would use a bladed jig, or a jig and craw that is heavy enough to throw in the wind. Quote
josh colley Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 i thought about fishing deep because maybe the water would clear up deeper since the wind wasnt pushing all the silt around. thank you all again for the help! Quote
strikefc34 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 With those temps fish should be shallow...buzzbait in the back of spawning pockets, squarebill or spinnerbait. Quote
