What are you all's favorite bladed jigs for river smallmouth? I love the action of a bladed jig but I haven't had much confidence with z-man chatterbaits in the river that I fish.  I have caught some largemouth along grasslines In some of the lakes that I have fished but very few bites in the river.  Also what are your favorite jig trailers?  Seems like I always see a swimbait on the back of a bladed jig vs a craw or chunk trailer.  I always use a rage craw.  The forked tail swimbait that comes with the z man I always chuck.  Just doesn't look like much??? Maybe that's my problem.

Original chatterbait, with either the split tail trailer that is included or a 4" grub. GP jig with a bright chartreuse grub is a killer for smallies around here. Hit the blade with a black sharpie.

KaRu Vibrashock is a great river bladed swimjig.

I'm not a Z-man fan but their new Project Z is a very, very good chatterbait.

Trailers range from Rage Craw, boot tail swimbait or a blade minnow/fluke type. All have their place.

Unless the bait I'm using is white, I'm also a big fan of have a black blade for most colors. A GP variant / black blade is my favorite.

Can somebody explain the preference for a black, or blackened blade to me?

For cloudy overcast days or at least that's what I do

Just gives off less flash. When the bass are on shiners or shad you want the silver flash, otherwise if you are trying to imitate a bluegill or craw you don't want a bright silver flash. You can buy blades online in many different colors. Or use blade dip to change the color. I use blade dip on a lot of mine but I don't have black, which is why I said to use a black sharpie. The sharpie gives a purpleish black color which goes nicely with a GP jig.

I like a swim senko as a trailer.

I hear siebertoutdoors makes a good one, that'll be my next purchase. Purchased some brush mata jigs and they are definitely as awesome as people say.

I bought the 4.5" but the next time I would buy the 5" so I can bit off the end if I need to and have a little more versatility.

This is my favorite smallmouth color. I like the half of a pink trick worm or a pink grass pig Jr.

i like the rage blades for some snaggier spots because they come through with less hangups and the wobblers from @Bluebasser86 put out some serious thump...

It gets smashed in the right situations too, especially by smallies but largemouth love it too.
