mhilgtx Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Teaching myself how to flip and I have ran into an unexpected problem. Is there an easy way to clean snell knots off a hook once you are ready to re-tie or switch out baits? Quote
mhilgtx Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 That's what I am using, not very efficient though. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted April 3, 2016 Super User Posted April 3, 2016 that's why I quit using a snell knot. not enough benefit to be worth the hassle. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted April 3, 2016 Super User Posted April 3, 2016 Boomerang Snips, snell knots are kind of a beating though. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted April 3, 2016 Super User Posted April 3, 2016 Boomerang snips work fine for me. Or get a sharper knife. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 3, 2016 Global Moderator Posted April 3, 2016 Boomerang or a sharp pair of nail clippers and keep digging at it. Mike Quote

Kevin22 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Absolutely. Melts into a ball which you can pick right off. 2 Quote
hatrix Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Just take another hook or something similar and pull the tag end out. The line that runs down along the outside of your wraps. Once you do that it just pulls right off. super quick and easy. 3 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted April 4, 2016 Super User Posted April 4, 2016 Everyone so far has mentioned it. Lighter, nail clippers, tip of a pocket knife blade. Very easy and quick. 1 Quote

Have to cut at an angle, slow from side to side as each strand gets snipped. Need a decent knife if you have thick leader... 1 Quote
