What are some examples of lures you use only during certain seasons or water temps? What specifically got me thinking about this was wondering, "at what point in the spring time do I put away my A-rigs and jerk baits?"

Considering bass are cold blooded and eat less when water is cold and more when warmer, adjust your lures according.

Not trying to be a jerk but I would put them away when the fish stop biting. I dont think it is as simple as water temp. There are other variables that come into play. Fishing is so situational I would never rule anything out based on water temps alone.

I can not think of a single lure that is not effective in cold & warm water...ya might have to change locations.

Now that I kinda think about it in more detail ..... MO ain´t exactly THE SOUTH perhaps what work for us ( changing speed or changing locations ) don´t work for them yankee anglers, cuz, well, them guys got their rear ends frozen half of the year while we can enjoy bass fishing in watery water ALL YEAR ROUND ! :devil3:

And on the eighth day the All Mighty said: LET THERE BE BASS FISHIN´ !!! ........and THE SOUTH was  created. ;)

I guess I should have been more specific about my personal situation. There are several types of lures I have never caught a fish on, and don't use much since I have zero confidence in them. People here talk about using certain lures in certain temps, or at least certain seasons, all the time. So I was kind of wondering if the next month or two would be a bad time to practice with lures that people often consider colder water lures.

What's the water temperature?  If we knew that it would be easier to help you.

Googling some nearby lakes' water temps, it seems to be in the low to mid 50's.

Obviously it will be going up in the near future. I am not able to get out very often right at the moment, so I'm kind of thinking ahead too, as it gets warmer.

For those temperatures I would use a jerkbait, a lipless rattlebait, a jig, and most importantly the Ned rig.  And the Ned rig doesn't just catch massive numbers of bass, it also catches big ones to.  Two weeks ago I caught an 8.2 pounder on the trd.?
