SMITTY0045 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 So one of the guide inserts on my Mojo Bass popped out recently and I planning on calling St. Croix go see what the process is for getting it fixed. The insert didn't fall out from getting banged up against anything considering the guide frame is in fine shape and isn't bent at all, or by any neglect by my part ( I always have a rod glove on it during transport, whether in the rod locker or in the back of my truck). I'm just curious as to what I should expect to hear back from them? I know a lot of people have good things to say about their customer service. Quote

You can call the Customer service desk and ask about your situation. They will most likely tell you to do exactly what is in the link posted below. Basiccaly looks like this ~ Ship the rod, include a note with contact info & what happened. Wait a week or two for a phone call. Decide from there. You will pay to ship it to them and they will ship it back to you and fix it for free. You could get your rod back in a week or it could be 3-4 weeks. It depends on how busy they are. However, if you ask them for the guide, they will send it to you free or charge and you can have somebody local do it for you for 10$ or less. 2 Quote

I noticed that online, I figured it would be an easy fix and I think there are a couple places near by that can do it for me. I'll probably just call and ask for the insert then Quote

Kevin22 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 The couple times I used it, I had to ship my rod to them along with a $20 check. They either fix or replace it at that cost. They had a fedex program when I sent mine in, costed $15 a tube. So it will cost you $35 as long as it is still under warranty. On a mojo bass, they will give you a new rod since those are made in mexico. On the foreign made rods they just replace them, it isn't worth their time to fix them. Locally it will cost you $10 for a re-wrap, plus the guide cost which will be about $2. That's what every rod builder I know charges. Quote
S. Sass Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Might want to check at your local shops that you are considering to do the repair as to what they charge and even if they will do it. Most likely they will and it shouldn't be to much labor but before to settle for a guide and possibly have no one or a to pricy of a shop to put it on. Would be safe to know before making your decision. Quote

I've never been lucky enough to have them send me guides or do repairs free of charge. If it's not under warranty don't bother sending it in just get it fixed locally, it will be much cheaper. Even if it is under warranty it would probably still be cheaper to get it fixed locally. Quote
Super User Further North Posted April 2, 2016 Super User Posted April 2, 2016 I am close enough to Park Falls that I can drive over if I need a quick turn around. I had bad luck last year - I had some assistance braking the same Legend Xtreme rod three times in two months...the last time a week before I left for Canada. I drove over on a Sunday, handed them the rod, they handed me a new one and off I went. I've also broken two St. Croix fly rods - one, a Legend 10 wt. was no longer made. I received a call letting me know what I suspected - that it wasn't repairable - and was allowed to upgrade to the Legend Xtreme 10 wt. for $75. They've won a pretty pleased customer with me. Quote
