Dye99 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Today was a first...Lost a rod/reel from a yak....St.Croix/Quantum.....What an idiot...Been fishing out of tupperware boats for so many years I guess its time and I was due, but it doesnt take away the sting... So with that said... This is what I will be using it for. -Weightless or very light weight senko's, Flukes, Creature baits, keitech swimbaits. -It will be going on a G loomis finesse rod, medium heavy. 7ft. -I run straight braid usually 15-20 lb. Id like... -$250 range -Not a super large body. -Possible braid ready. -High gearing. So if you were me what would you buy? Thanks collective minds of Bass Resource! Quote
Dye99 Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 Maybe losing my spinning rig today had more effect on me than Id like to admit, Ive put this thread in the wrong forum. Sorry Mods. Quote
kcdinkerz Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I feel your pain man. Can't recommend a high speed reel, but if you want to make a rod float there's a few videos on YouTube. Cheap and easy. 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted April 2, 2016 Super User Posted April 2, 2016 My pick would be Shimano Stradic. 1 Quote
Chrisran99 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I ran into a deal today at the local Dick's. Stradic 2500fj for 99.00 and I had a $20 coupon. It took the sales guy a few minutes but he found the box. I know it's the older model but I think I got a heck of a deal. 1 Quote

I used to use floats on my rods, and even leashes, but Ive been in plastic boats for many years and never having lost anything I just got complacent... Quote
tracker01 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Stradic ci4+ Light and very little line management problem's. 1 Quote
Wildbillb Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Put a cush it on the butt of your rods. They float. Wicked cheap insurance. Quote

Nick S Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I'd go with the Luvias for that price, much better than the ci4+ imo and it's made in japan. https://japanlureshop.com/daiwa-15-luvias-3012h-10526.html Quote

Read through all of the threads and you will see that we have consolidated rod & reel suggestions and reviews at various pricing points. "What Is The Best" comes up several times each week. Although most of the posts are relatively new, they still precede your joining in the Forum by several weeks or months. -Kent 1 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted April 2, 2016 Super User Posted April 2, 2016 Thank you. We will try to update the thread with more reel reviews in coming weeks. Quote
