I have the 894 in GLX..It's a great 1/2oz.-3/4 oz. jig rod but I think it's too much for 3/8 or less... If your throwing 1/2 or more it's a dandy.

I'm a fan of the E series Curados and Citica's..If you can find a E7, I personally would take it over the I series.

I agree with a lot of the points  already made. A 300 is to much and a 200 is perfect and exactly what I use. CU 200 E7 to be exact.

The 200e is a great reel that I own myself. I suggested the smaller ones only due to their popularity. Any of them will work. The 300 is considerably larger and heavier with line capacity way above what you'll use bass fishing.

the 300 size is just too big to use comfortably. PHENOMENAL reel, but way overkill for jigs.  the 200 size all the way down to a 50 size will be just fine since you're not really bombing casts on a jig.

I'm a fan of the shimano crucial worm and jig rod, I mainly throw 3/8oz -1/2oz jigs.  Nice tip on the rod and good backbone.  I use this rod with a chronarch ci4+ 151HG.

Going the Shimano route I would also highly recommend the Scorpion 1000/1001XT basically like a 50 sized curado and in the same ball park price range. Also I would definitely go down in line 12-15lb range is where I throw jigs. 20lb, ehh idk maybe in some serious zebra mussel infested waters.

Go with that new curado 70 that shimano just released. Should palm super easily and you could get one new compared to a used E series. Plus many guys think the I series is better than the E.

Then you'll just run out of line faster  Those things don't care if it's 2lb mono or 50lb braid, cut it like a razor blade either way.

I have a 300E, I'd hate to have to use that thing for jigs all day. Great swimbait/A-rig reel, way too much for a jig.

I have a few E7's, a couple IHG, a 70XHG, and a Supreme XT that I use for jigs. They all get the job done just fine, all a matter of personal preference.
