IndianaFinesse Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Nice spot! Hard to tell from photographs, but looks to be about three pounds. Quote
Wbeadlescomb Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 For a size comparison the spot in the pic was right at 5lbs 2 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Did you take the length or girth measurements? That would make it easier to get an accurate estimate. Quote
Wbeadlescomb Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 I measured it and it was right at 23 inches. 2 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Oh, then I was way off. Sorry about that. A 23 incher would probably run about six or seven pounds. Quote
Wbeadlescomb Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Here's one that weighed 3lbs 1 ounces I caught the other day On 3/30/2016 at 1:25 AM, Centralinfinnesse said: Oh, then I was way off. Super User gardnerjigman Posted March 30, 2016 Super User Posted March 30, 2016 Wish we could get a 23" spot around here. Thing would be a tank! This picture shows the build of our spots. 2 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 30, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 30, 2016 I believe they've officially decided that the Alabama spots are a different strain of spot that the Kentucky spotted bass. They're basically the spotted bass version of a Florida strain largemouth. Quote

Although, i'm not sure if that's where the OP is fishing. Besides California, if you fish some Alabama or Georgia waters, you've got a shot at some big nasty spots! http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1575470-2015-top-15-spotted-bass-lakes Quote
Super User senile1 Posted March 30, 2016 Super User Posted March 30, 2016 Nice fish! This is one of those where the pic can be very misleading for weight guessing. I would have never guessed that was a 23 inch fish and since she isn't packing a big belly she looks smaller in a pic. 1 Quote
