They get used plenty, just not in the same way we all do since they are usually covering water and looking or 5 good strikes, a drop shot is just more efficient if they are going to go light I guess, they can drag it faster at the right depth the entire time..If they find them in practice I would imagine guys pick apart areas with an unweighted stick worm....if it works, it works for everyone, but I notice that most guys fish them on weights more often then not it seems, and they try not to peg if possible.... the Yum Dinger is becoming popular for punching due to the hook slot...black and blue or junebug is all anyone fishes down here...6" Dinger, 3/8-1/2 ounce weight does the job, gets through mats that most guys have to use over an ounce.... We don't see it since they already sell enough stick baits...but can only make so many new sticks...creatures can be altered to sell more baits each year but they use the same stuff that works for us... Great response. So true on the altering creature baits! Quote
Super User burrows Posted April 1, 2016 Super User Posted April 1, 2016 I think their should be some kind of fine or penalty for a pro that lies about what they are throwing when they win a big tournament specially the classic. I feel that it's just straight out wrong and dishonest some sort of punishment should be given. 3 Quote

This makes no sense. 1 Quote

For one, I've caught a lot of bass on Senkos, From reading the forums in here, so have a lot of other anglers! But for some reason the pros (even those sponsored by (Yamamoto) don't throw a senko type baits during the big tournaments. Yep, I've been on this site for more than a few years now and it seems if there is one brand/lure question that comes up more than others, it's the Senko/stick bait lure. I'm a follower and devote of soft plastics worms/stick baits. I also wonder, when I watch the Pros competing on TV, why aren't they using the Texas Rig worm or soft stick bait or split-shot soft plastic or weightless soft plastic? I think something funny is going on. In my opinion, the lure companies what to sell their hard baits/other lures as well as their soft plastics, so they make the Pros use those crankbaits/big jigs/etc... So its basically a sales job. We all know soft plastics are superior to anything else. The lure companies want you to think crankbaits/spinnerbaits/top water catches as many fish/big fish as well as the soft plastics do. At least in my fishing time, I've found the Yum-Dinger almost superior to anything else I use. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted April 3, 2016 Super User Posted April 3, 2016 Last year I got a chance to see the saturday weight-in for a BASS tourney at Cayuga Lake in upstate NY. I walked around the dock when the boats were there and most of the boats that I could see had at least one rod with a senko style bait on it. I'm one of those guys that likes to see what the pros use as far as gear and lures. I agree with some of the posts that the lure doesn't get the attention because it isn't flashy and maybe some pros don't have a sponsor that makes that lure. 2 Quote

He actually used a jigging spoon and a jig to win the Classic at Hartwell. He mainly used a jig at Grand this year also. He's a slow, soak the bait kind of guy, so a senko suits him well. Quote
