I have tried them several years ago and for a permanent fix in an actual fishing situation they do not work. They are too stretchy (is that a word). They do work great when you are combining skirt strands to make a single skirt for tying as they roll off really easy. JMO

I'm wondering about the ones shown on the site.

If they work for the second case, why no the first case? I'm talking about the plastic O rings used for Senko wacky rig, not the crappy rubber Lurecraft sells that rots in one season.

If you are using them on a worm for wacky rigging they work great. If you want to use them to keep skirt tabs together to make a skirt and then put it on a jig in lieu of tying with thread or wire they do not work because of what I mentioned above. I believe the skirt collars you buy from any lure tackle component company are rubber. I believe the "O" rings are made of silicone and they do strech a lot making the skirt and strands move and/or fall off. I will tell you that I have had rubber collars on jigs at home for two years with no sign of stretch or anything else and they work to this day. However I do not like the rubber collars on the bigger jigs and spinnerbaits because they eventually stretch as well. The biggest contributors to rubber rot (decay) are exposure to sun, hot car or boat compartment and finally water. Believe it or not water when it sits on a rubber collar and skirt combo after fishing in the hot suns dries the rubber collar faster. Reason being is the water magninfies or intensifies the sun onto the collar and skirt. Skirts because most of them are silicone or some sort of silicone are not nearly affected. How do I know this? I have done experiments outside in the summertime on my deck and found out these scenarios to be true. Believe it or not. Just my personal opinion.

PS: You can tries those you mentioned on the link and let us know your results. It's only $5 plus shipping

Thanks for info.

At least I know small zip ties work fine and don't rot.

Try the smallest zip tie you can find. There's no difference in catch rate, they're cheap and easy to change skirt colors. Either cut it off or slip it down, pull skirt tabs through it and push back on. They don't rot or break.

SenkoSam, I think the ones on fishingskirts.com are to be used in conjunction with the skirt hubs that have the flaired ridge on the end.

The o ring sandwiches the skirt to the hub and then you glue it together,so the skirt strands can't move around.

I appreciate the clarification! Thanks!

I used to do the bobbin/ thread or wire tie, but I'm kind of fickle when it comes to skirt colors and truly believe the same for bass. It's quick, easy and cheap to change a zip tie and fish don't even care it's there.

With one jig and one color skirt using the zip, I caught over two dozen bass until a big pick bit it off. >:)

My motto - K.I.S.S. and if it aint broke, .......

I've had good luck using air tubing sold for aquariums.  Not the stiff, clear vinyl tubing; the silicone tubing and it's like a bluish-green color.  It stretches enough to work with and seems to be just the right diameter for all but the tiniest jig and spinnerbait heads.

Gman,

O rings work great for wire tying. They come off real easy and hold up real well. Much better than cutting collars in half. As for permanently holding skirts on, Cadman is right on the money. They roll to easy and do not work.
