I'm looking to purchase a DC reel and I couldn't find a consensus on what the best one was.. Antares ? 15 metanium dc ? Metanium dc7 ... Show me the light to the digitally controlled heaven

this reel will go on 7-11 crankbait rod to 7 ft crankbait rod and fish everything from squarebills to xr50s to 8xds and jerkbaits during the winter from 10lb- 14lb line on it.

I would like to hear what people have to say that have owned these aswell.  From what I have read it seems like the Conquest 50/51 DC and '15 Met DC are both very highly regarded...well, all of them are, but those even more than most.

I just haven't fished a round reel in forever ... can you tell me why ?

Not on your list. Conquest 51 or 101DC. ;)

I don't doubt this at all.  I have a non-DC '13 Met and non-DC '14 Conquest 101, and the Conquest outshines the '13 Met...and that is lofty company.

The Calais/Antares has the 4x8 system and the Cq 101DC has the 3x8 system. I call the conquest the best DC system as I have a soft spot for round reels! Although the Cq 51DC has the newer i-DC4 system which doesnt give you as many options and the opportunity to fine tune your setting, there is something special about a 50 sized round reel.

Purely the Antares / Calais DC 7 4x8 is at the top of my list giving you more flexibilty to adjust to conditions you face on the water and of course reaching out with your cast. One feature that is over looked on the 4x8 is its ability to read the wind something you will not find on the non 4X8 DC reels. Now I must say I have every version in the round and only the 4X8 in the low profile and as much as I enjoy my rounds the Low Profile 4X8 is the winner for me. In my opinion Shimano has kept their best DC technology for their flagship Antares/Calais and will continue to do so. Let me be clear I think they all have a place in your arsenal of reels but when you ask which is "The One" the Antares/Calais gets my vote....P.S. And I really love pitching with a NRX 802C with a CQ 50 DC mounted on it.

I'm going to either get a anteras dc7 or the 15  metanium dc , the 380 vs 750 where I can find is making this deal hard to even out however.

The Calais DC7 is the same if you are not looking at the new model and can be had for a lot less than 750. However I am not convinced that you would have to pay that much even for the 2016 Antares DC.....

16 Antares DC can be had for under $600.  Hope it is as good as my original Antares DC!

Can someone send me the best price they can find online for a Calais or a Antares on hg .... The thing is I really wanted an 8.5 ratio ... I've been slowly trying it out and jumping on the Aaron martens bandwagon. I may soon use a 7.0 for my slow cranking :). So at a better price point and the ratio I want the Metanium 15 dc is appealing. If the Calais would be the better over all choice (it's also a 200sz ree as far as I can see) I will get what's best for me over the issue of the money . Just will take a little longer to get as now I'm getting an ocea jigger 3000pg for a yankee Capts trip in July and I haven't  had my mgl for 5 days yet

I don't like how the new anteras looks either .. I'd have to hear great things about it like I have the other two reels

You should stick with the Metanium , that is what works for you , certainly would save you money and get you your gear ratio.
