Recently, I bought a Cabela's jerbait/topwater rod and paired it with the pt Accurist baitcast reel, and was wondering if I would have problems throwing spinnerbaits, jigs, and soft plastics on it?

Overall, I have other rods I can use if need be, but I would like to be able to keep on the move, while changing lures often if i am bank fishing. Will this rod give me problems if I use other lures besides jerbaits and topwaters? Or could I use this rod for a more universal setup. If there would be problems, what would they be and could I overcome them?

So far, it doesn't seem to pose any problems as of yet, but I have been tuning in my reel, rather fishing it. Other than one buzz bait running on its side, I haven't had much issue but what do you guys think?

i dont think you would have an issue doing this from the bank you might just have to tie a leader on to fish jigs if your main line is braid

you'll be just fine.  those technique specific rods will work for much more than what is listed on the rod.

Well, any rod can work, but generally you want a soft tip for treble hooks and a firm tip for single hooks.

I wouldn't want to use jigs on either of my jerkbait/topwater rods. I could easily do it with my frog rod, and have done it with my buzzbait rod though.
