CrankySenkoskipper72 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Hey guys, i am looking at getting some new rods for this season and have narrowed it down to two different ones. The question i wanted to ask is that one rod has 8 guides plus the tip and the other has 10 guides plus the tip and i was just wondering if the extra guides would equal a more sensitive rod? The two rods are the kistler argon and the powell max 3d if anyone was wondering. Thanks in advance for any advice. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted March 27, 2016 Super User Posted March 27, 2016 The # of guides could be due to the length of rod. Generally more material and guides will make a rod slightly more heavy so I dont think more guides would equate to better feel. The quality of guides would have more of an impact though. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 The number of guides on a Rod should be driven by Rod length, action, guide height and size. The fewest and lightest guides that will handle the application leaves you with a crisp, responsive and sensitive Rod. Quote
