I lost my D&M Gen 1 Piranha Chatterbait in Sexy Shad color a couple of weeks back.  I have one backup but man, that one hurt to break off...caught a lot of fish for me last year.

Not much lost but a good story.. Jumped out of my kayak for a quick break midday. 48 F and rainy/strong wind, 45 degree water, pretty miserable. Stepped back into the kayak, lost my balance and flipped it in 5-6 feet of water. Absolutely freezing but I'm already wet, so why not go get all my stuff?... went back in and recovered all my combos, backpack, plano boxes, etc. My jig box opened up but they are some of my most prized possessions so I kept swimming around the bottom till I found 90% of them. My trick was stomping around till I got stuck by one barefoot and then dive in and nab it lol...

Shocked I found them but it took me 15 minutes in near freezing water. To top it off I was out with a buddy and I didn't have keys to the truck... Stayed out on the water for seven more hours freezing my a** off in wet jeans.. Most miserable I've ever been, shaking uncontrollably, not recommended. My phone was dead from water damage (was getting a new one anyways) and lost a couple jigs, but otherwise survived.

Not really lost, but now worthless :) Throw in a brand new Shimano Clarus that broke about 15" off the tip end when it got tangled in the braid of another rod, which then got wedged underneath a boat cleat, all while trying to unhang a 0.50 cent crappie jig from a shoreline bush - the wind blew us past the area, everything was hung together, and something had to give...

I haven't lost anything yet because I haven't fished but for an hour this year. However, I'm poised to lose a lot this year because the bait monkey has been very active and I now have a lot to lose.

Lost my favorite Lucky Craft Pointer 110 in a local pond. Few weeks later the owner handed it to me asking if it was mine. That story had a happy ending. Went on to catch several more 3+ lb. fish on it. :)

went to dicks sporting good and bought a few stuff and promptly lost a new jig the next day.

on a side note, i got my precious chatterbait hung up on a tree branch at this lake in nj and i waved some guys in boat to get it for me. i would of chopped most of that tree down to get it back. a few days later i caught a striper with it.  im seriously contemplating retiring it.

has anyone retired a lure that caught a personal best?

I was in my kayak and had the trod and reel in the rod holder and the bait on the rod got caught on a low hanging tree. It hung there for a Little Whilr But before i Could get to it it fell out of the tree and there she went . I swam but could  not find it

I've been mostly fishing from shore this year and that has caused a lot of snags haha.

Pretty sure I've lost 5 jigs, a few crankbaits, some lipless, a few hooks, some bullet weights, and a whole bunch of soft plastics haha but I'm pretty good at keeping tabs of what I lose so that I make sure to replenish my inventory before my next fishing trip.

Does this mean lost by using, or just unable to locate it amongst the overabundance of gear in my basement?  If it's the latter, I lost one of my Chronarch SF reels somewhere.

Went shore fishing yesterday for about 4 hours on the Mississippi in Red Wing, MN. In the first 30 minutes I lost a zman chatterbait elite and a siebert swim jig. Luckily I didn't lose another one the rest of the day, otherwise it may have quickly become a very short day of fishing! I don't shore fish very often, but when I do it generally shows :-P

*cues the benny hill theme song*

real productive day in the loss column for me. decided to fish today even though it started to rain. lost 2 wacky worm rigs and 2 jigs.  decided to take out the spinner bait and smashed it into my other pole  breaking the bottom guide including messing up the spinner while creating a nasty birdsnest.

all done in less than 1 hour. *pats self on back*

Think I need more time on the water or just lucky. Lost 1 Buzzbait in the last 3 years and broke the bill off a KVD 1.5 Square Bill on a rock.
