I try not think about what I've lost!!! Back when Megabass 110's were hard to get, I lost 3 in a 3 hour jackpot tournament to toothy critters. Any time I lose less than 3 Megabass 110's I'm happy!!!

The nature of skipping docks. Only had to catch 10lbs to win. Lost 3 in the 3-4lb range.

I figured I lost $120 in Bama rigs, $60 in 10xds, $200 on the reel, $160 on the rod, and $45 on line.  That's $585...just another day in paradise?

Quit fishing and send your stuff up to me here in VA Josh.

You should have been down here with me Friday. I boated over 100 fish and had 20+ over 4lbs.

Since the season is still closed, nothing yet, but I quit trying to think about it. Expecting to lose 20+ cranks and lots of jig plastic combos again this year. Shore fishing can get expensive. Don't lose as much from the boat unless a pike or musky gets me.

The Spro BBZ-1 Rat I lost last year is still hanging off a branch above my favorite pond. Ice wasn't thick enough to retrieve it this year, and every time I see it I get a little sad inside.

Id be skeered to fish close to most of yall.some of the things yall have done with crankbaits and fishing rods you need a vest that says stay back 300'

Lost my first tonight, a black Cavitron.  I cast out, the spool spins, then backlash, and the line just snapped.  Never had that happen before.

Last trip to the river I lost a nice smallie, then two jerkbaits and three crankbaits trying to catch it again.

there's a black cavitron with a red blade hanging from a tree in a pond near my house.....  i'm the moron that put it there and have not been able to retrieve it....  still haven't brought myself to replace it because i keep lying to myself and saying i will get it back eventually!

Wow I have only been out once this year and lost a 1/8 oz jig and a grub.

Me: Rat-L-Trap on first cast of the season, immediate snag....Rebel Crawfish (old one I'd had for a long time) a few trips later.

My Teenage Nephews ("borrowing" my lures): 3 brand new Booyah Spinners, assorted older spinners, another Rat-L-Trap (replacement of the original one) on his 2nd cast, and various older crankbaits from the bottom of my box.

This is on 5 days of fishing, only two of which were with my nephews.  I bought them both their own tackle boxes for Christmas and loaded them up with starter lures, but they keep "forgetting" to bring them when I ask them to go fishing with me.

So far it's gonna be a chatterbait and a squarebill.  Oh a flipping jig too. Not too bad. Learned not to fish chatterbaits through laydowns...haha.

This isn't from 2016 but it's worth telling as a cautionary tale.

In late February of 2015 on a beautiful overcast and unusually warm 70's day I was kayak fishing on Germantown Lake in VA. Air temp 72 degrees, water temp 40 degrees. I was set and ready to go with rods and tackle loaded. Dressed in layers. As I arrived at my chosen spot I was uncomfortable with my seat position, it was in the high location. So I went about adjusting it.

I couldn't catch my breath at first. I knew I wouldn't drown because I had my PDF on (always, hot or cold). I couldn't touch bottom but I remember looking at my Lowrance and knew I was in 8 to 9 feet of water. But the water was sooo COLD. Mostly I was terrified of having a heart attack and being a floating popsicle for my wife to see. I quickly grabbed ahold of my capsized kayak and side stroked to shore. The going was ever so slow. I was praying out loud to GOD to save me, and hoping to get some ground under my feat. I still couldn't control my breathing.

I finally got to shallow water and hauled my kayak and my soaking wet ass to dry ground. I was freezing. Hyperventilating. Trembling. There was nowhere close to go for help. But back across the lake to my truck. I finally got some semblance of composure back, righted my kayak, and secured various items on board. It was then I noticed what was missing.

Three GLoomis rood and one St. Croix. Three Shimano's and one Abu Garcia, grand total $1600.00. I retrieved one rod light enough to float the end.

paddled, nervously, across the lake to the boat ramp. Hauled the kayak ashore. Walked like a drunk to my truck and sat in it with heat on high until I could feel my bones again.

It was so stupid what I did. I knew better. I knew it when I leaned forward, pulling on the seat, and felt the kayak move underneath me.

I went back later dragging a stringer with all the hooks open and retrieved one setup. My newest GLoomis and Curado I series. The rest are down there. Somewhere.
