Anantha Patel Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I'm wondering if I can fish the Rage Tail Chunks and Craws as topwater toads? Their action on a Rage Rig is awesome, and I'm wondering if I can cast AND retrieve on the surface 9with a smaller wighted hook) as a finesse toad? They are thinner than conventional toads, and the 3" Rage Tail Chunk might be good as a finesse lure. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 Yes, but you might find the Rage Shad to be a better choice: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/5-pk-strike-king-3-rage-tail-shad-lures?a=966208&srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=37-173156987-2&pm2d=CSE-SPG-15-SZLA&utm_medium=cse&utm_source=shopzilla&utm_campaign=CI Or the Rage Toad Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 Yea ya can! I fish the Lobster on top all the time! 2 Quote
Wprich Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Yes you can I've used the craw and space monkey this way, both a bit more subtle than the toad and shad. Fish them on a keel weight hook and reel just just fast to keep on surface, I like 1/8 and 1/4 the best. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 Don't see no sign on the package saying you can't. 1 Quote
Heron Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 No, you cannot. The fish say it's against the rules. 2 Quote
LunkerFisher Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I've had fish hit a rage craw on top when swimming it back to the boat. Let the fish tell you what they want. ? Quote

Check out the yum christie craws, cheaper, more durable, and better action than the rage baits imo. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 Space Monkey on top is awesome, give it a try! My son catches 'em on a weightless Craw all the time. Quote
Afishionado Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I've gotten quite a few fish off the rage craw burning it over top of topped out eel grass.. I use it on a weighted swimbait hook.. It's versatile in the sense that I can let it fall in the big open pockets but when I'm up on top of the grass it has a nice sputtering action to it.. Pretty sure the bass don't get a good look at it to identify it's a crawdad and just hit it as a reaction strike before it gets away.. Quote
MFBAB Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 When I wade creeks for smallies, I will often have a weightless (or lightly weighted) Zoom Speed Craw T-rigged on a spinning rig or baitcaster with light line, and I will fish it on the top-middle and bottom that way.....and it will usually catch a few fish at each level all on the same day!! Any plastic that will flap a little on the surface can be fished on top like a buzzer or toad, and the craws give a much better hook-up % IMO. Quote
massrob Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I have much better results using a rage craw then a rage toad I think it's just a little too much action sometimes. 1 Quote
