When bass fishing and over cast condition....what do you guys normally pull out first? I have now just got my confidence to fish a spinnerbait sometimes Ill through a top water lure like a buzz bait I have no confidence in fishing with a frig because I dont seem to get much action out of it. Any help would be great

On overcast days the bass tend to move up in clear water. As posted the topwater baits are great choice. In the spring ( pre-spawn ) I like jerkbaits, cranks would be my first.Summer time I would still go to a jig, swimbait.

Fish will not only move up in the water column, but seem to expand their strike zone. A crankbait or spinnerbait is my choice if I'm searching for active fish. Top water or a jig if I'm confident that I'm on fish.

Calm, mild  , overcast days are what I like best . Not only do topwaters work well , but so does everything else . You know the lures that work when the fishing is tough , they work even better  when fishing is good . On an overcast day one year , I caught a six fish limit on six cast with a Texas rig .

I often start out throwing a lipless crank on the flat closest to the launch ramp.  Primarily I do this because I'm psyched about going fishing and I want to throw something far and reel it back fast.   It doesn't have to make a lot of sense, It is just something that I often do.

Catt. I am curious why you would choose deep offshore structure in overcast conditions when most folks (myself included) would be fishing shallower.

There is an early morning bite shallow but there is also an early morning bite deep.

It is a known fact your bigger bass are deep!

And according to y'all I'll be by myself!!!
