Wbeadlescomb Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Saw a reel on facebook today that's supposed to have 18 bearings. Think it was on outdoor warrior facebook page. I didn't think you could even fit that many bearings in a reel
Josh Smith Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 This the one? http://www.lightinthebox.com/shishamo-6-3-1-18-ball-bearings-one-way-clutch-bc150-baitcasting-reel-fishing-reel-left-handed-carp-fishing-reel_p4615811.html ?
0119 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 There stuff looks an aweful lot like low end Quantum from about 3 years ago line up. Its easy to put lots of b.b's into a reel when each paddle knob gets 2 or 4 each.
Josh Smith Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I'm trying to figure this out. 2 in the crankshaft 4 in the handle paddles 4 on the spool 2 on the guide ... that's 12. Two, maybe, on the idler gear if there is one? 14 Maybe two more inboard the spool? 16 Missing two. Josh
Kevin22 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Someone buy one and let us know where all the bearings are. 2

Super User bigbill Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 Ok I'm here whaz up? They probably put bearings in the handles too. The Chinese are after the market. Remember those imported plastic toys when we were kid? Now think about it the industry went over to China because of cheap manufacturing costs and no environmental laws. Now there taught but us and Japan out sourcing to China. China gets educated and says we can manufacture these under our own brand. Same machinery different graphics and label. Cheap entry level price. The question is longevity? How often do you switch reels?
Super User DogBone_384 Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 18 ball bearings ?!?!? What's it weigh? 12 ounces? 1

Super User kickerfish1 Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 I am sure they will sell plenty of these reels to schmucks that think higher bearing count = better reel. A friend bought his son a China made 12 ball bearing spinning reel for something like 15 bucks. It is the worst reel I have ever used. It feels like a coffee grinder ready to fall apart at any second.
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 27, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 27, 2016 I feel like these reels would rattle if you shook them.
Bass Turd Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 So think about the definition of a bearing.... Notice it doesn't say 18 BALL bearings..... bushings are also bearings.
Super User Choporoz Posted April 5, 2016 Super User Posted April 5, 2016 Title does say ball bearings...title also says it's a carp reel...that does explain quite a bit, I guess....I'm no expert on carp-specific gear By the way, at the bottom of the page, they link to their high end shishamo spinning reel that's marked down from $180 to $25....it'd all be rather comical if it weren't duping some unsuspecting fishermen....or worse, someone buying a gift for a fisherman
Bass Turd Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 oops. I want my money back from the Evelyn Wood speed reading course I took... sorry guys.
