bassh8er Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 My Lowrance mounted to my trolling motor took a crap and I was looking at some of the Humminbird options to replace it. I have a Lowrance Elite 5 mounted to the transom currently. I don't know enough about electronics to know what to look for with getting interference running 2 different sonars at the same time so could someone let me know if there would be any issues with this? Super User Wayne P. Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 Lowrance and Humminbird use the same frequencies for the imaging and 2D sonar. Any sonar units, regardless of brand, will cross-talk when their like sonar frequency pulses overlap. It can be on the same boat or different boats in the vicinity. If it is not too severe, it can be tolerated and somewhat filtered with unit settings, but when severe, it affects the depth reading. You can put the console unit on stand-by or turn it off when using the bow unit. If you have networkable units, you can share the sonar from one to the other to prevent cross-talk. This is another Humminbird 360 cross-talking with my 360: The streaks on the center screen in this picture is cross-talk from the bow unit Side Imaging frequency: Quote
