joe chum Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 What lures do you use in pink/bubblegum for Smallies? I'm thinking of pickin' up a Pink X-Rap and some soft plastics with pink in the colour scheme. What conditions would you use pink? Quote
noway Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Senko, Fluke, Spinnerbait, Lipless cranks. Have seen and heard a bunch of fishermen using that color scheme. Throw it when you feel like it. 1 Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 25, 2016 Super User Posted March 25, 2016 Anything with some pink in the color scheme will produce on smallies this time of the year. Also, don't over look the gawdy "hot head" as well. That pattern has produced some big smallies for me in past seasons. Often in the spring we jig the 20' - 40' depth for lakers. We use 1/2 - 1 oz. jig head with a pink 6" Sluggo on the back. You'd be amazed at all the smallies we get this way as well. Pink is good! Quote
Molay1292 Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Pink is a good color in clear water and also in shallower semi-stained. I knew a guy who used pink under bridges, said that he felt like it was a good match for the baby birds that hatch and fall in the water under bridges. Quote
JWOA Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Not saying they dont work but Ive never caught a largemouth on a pink worm. THat being said most of the water i fish is a little stained. Quote
Kevin22 Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I catch a lot of smallies on pink plastics while fishing for walleye. Paddle and curl tail ringworms and such. I would think an xrap would be killer in pink. Our water is stained to muddy. Quote
jlperkins Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Spring {NOW} clear water, Ike Con worms Bubble Gum color Quote
KHNC Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Pink fluke is probably one of my favorite smallmouth baits. Quote
Attila Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Pink spinnerbait was really hot up here a few years... Quote
Nick S Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Pink fluke is one of the best pre spawn baits I've ever used. Quote
EvanT123 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Pink fluke is nice but if I really want to tick the smallies off I like white with chartreuse tail. Gets the pike going to. Quote
tbone1993 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 The elusive pink jerkbait. Still don't know if that was a prank or if he really did sack em on it. Saw the bait don't know if it was legit. That being said I'll bite the bullet and sign a pack out at work. If I catch more smallies on it this summer I'll use them. If not I'll sign them all out and sell em to you guys lol. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 This might work. 1 Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 And do not overlook a wacky rigged pink Senko (I think they call it "bubblegum" at Yamamato). Deadly on early season smallies and largemouths. This presentation has saved the day for me many times. Quote
joe chum Posted March 26, 2016 Author Posted March 26, 2016 I'm definitely pickin' up a pink jerkbait and some bubblegum soft plastics. It sounds like the color works most effectively during pre-spawn. Thanks for everybody's feedback. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted March 27, 2016 Super User Posted March 27, 2016 We all know that pink rattle traps catch 13lbers Quote
Junk Fisherman Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Surprised no one mentioned the article from Bassmaster about the fishermen in northern Michigan whose best bait is a small pink worm. He either fishes it wacky or drop shots it. It was either this past episode or the one before it. Quote
