Jacob Krahenbil Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Want to get into tieing bass jigs. I think I'm going to try some heads from sieben outdoors. Anyone know where I can get a good starting skirt kit? Quote
GoCougs14 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Fishingskirts.com is recommended by a lot of people here. They have a few different kits. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 The jig, living image, and spinnerbait kits from fishingskirts.com, as far as I can tell, are the same as the Skirts Unlimited kits on TW and the skirt making kits at Barlow's. I got the jig one and went crazy with it this winter. Only problem is the rubber collars that come in the kits seem to rip easily. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted March 25, 2016 Super User Posted March 25, 2016 If you want an already assembled banded skirt and you want to buy in quantities of 5, I would look at Dirty Jigs or Boss. If you are wanting skirt tabs you are best off sourcing them from a lure parts shop. TW carries both material and already assembled if you are looking for a one stop shop that won't kill you on shipping as long as your clear $50. Quote
Molay1292 Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I get most of my stuff from fishingskirts.com, they have a good selection of skirts that are ready to install or skirt tabs that are ready to tie. My advice is if you want a skirt to stay on for a while, build your skirt and install with the rubber bands, and then wire tire it once you have it like you want it. Very addictive hobby. Quote
IneedAnewScreenName-81651651 Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 fishingskirts.com for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted March 25, 2016 Super User Posted March 25, 2016 agree, fishingskirts.com is great. careful though, you may get overwhelmed and buy more than you need (i did for sure). 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted March 26, 2016 Super User Posted March 26, 2016 Check JannsNetcraft, Barlows Tackle, and Lurepartsonline as well for pre-made skirts. They all sell skirts from the same manufacturer but they all carry different colors. Allen Quote
RyneB Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I used to buy every color under the sun. Now I pretty much buy 2 pre made skirts, the sweet craw from Siebert an peas an carrots from Boss. I still have have a ton of jigs i made that look really cool, but they don't catch fish as well as those pre mades I buy. Quote
primetime Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Hagens fish is the cheapest compared to all the others but the min is usually 100, the 1000 price is given but it only a buck to get a 100 lot... I am contemplating a pound of skirts for $34 all tied already in black and blue, or 100 skirts for $38 cents....As for the kits...I purchased one from Skirtsplus I think for $29.00 but you can put one together for a similar price, I don't think they have standard colors but I am just starting doing punch skirts in bulk and new colors as well as jigs....I have used Hagens Fish for Mister Twister Top Props in bulk, Daichi Death trap trebles, hooks, and shaky heads in the past and they are awesome people...It is not wholesale...Not sure how they sell worm hooks from all brands cheaper than most wholesale places if you buy a ton....They also have Mizmo Tubes for pennies, scorpion worms, check it out if you have never been on the site...It is addicting, but Barlows, Jannscraft, Lurepartsonline, Mudhole, Skirtsunlimited, all have good kits I would think...They also have clearance on some stuff this time of year....Check out hagensfish.com...Hopefully they have a kit that is not gigantic.
