I went to California for my spring break but was unable to bring any of my rods down, so I went to the San Jose bass pro and picked up the first gen villain on sale for 80 dolloars. I've only used it once fishing hudds felt like a good rod light with a good back bone. Got the 6'9" MH not good for hudds, but worked fine. Wondering if anyone has any complaints about the rod breaking.

Thanks Matt

I bought one too at the BPS in Michigan for the same cost. I got the same length but a ML. Feels decent I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Hopefully April will be the start of my season.

What do you mainly use it for?

Nope I love my villain, especially because I only paid fifty for it.?  Just don't try to swing anything over about a pound and a half, net them.

The 7'1 MH will swing bass in the boat just fine.  Problem is when you try to swing a 5 pounder with a missing guide half way up the rod.  Ask my brother what happened to his.  LOL  I still have mine, and it is an awesome rod.  Sensativity is great, and has a heck of a powerful backbone, but is also an overall stiff rod.  I don't like the reel seat very much, but you quickly forget about it when you have a hog on the end of the line.

I've been throwing small tubes in a gravel pit I fish regularly.

I feel this way about my 7'6" MH casting rod.  Rated 3/8 to 1-1/4 oz.  Barely throws a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait a decent fishing distance.  When...and if...I ever retire to Florida, maybe I will find a use for it.  Like the ML spinning rod, but seldom use a spinning rod so it hasn't seen much use.  It is also stiffer than I feel a ML should be.  One thing I can say with my limited experience with Villain rods is "Don't try using lighter lures than the rod's rating."  You will be disappointed in the results.
