WhiteMike1018 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 So im out in a T last week and i filled up my livewell. I forgot to block off my front livewell and it filled up with water completely. Inside the front livewell contained a tote with 6-7 rolls of flurocarbon...leader line by sunline The line was completely submerged in water for about an hour or two before I found out. The line was removed from the tote and left to dry out for a day or two before it was completely dry. There was also a 1500 yard spool of 10lb excel that aLso was submerged that was also left to dry out. Is my line still good? I'll be using it as a leader from braid Would you trust it? -Mike Quote
Turtle135 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I would trust it, unless I am missing something your line just was in contact with water. 3 Quote
tstraub Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I cant imagine that it would hurt anything but the label on the spool. Fishing line is made to be used in lake water. 8 Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 Water will not damage your line. Tom 8 Quote

There should be nothing wrong with the line. 2 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 Just set your oven on 250 and put your line in there for 15 minutes....itll be just like new. Quote

Umm... yeah it's fine." 1 Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 It's probably all bad. Just send it all to me and I'll throw it away for you... Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 Feel free to send any Sunline Sniper to me for inspection. I'll keep all the bad spools. Quote

WRONG! fluoro sinks because its specific gravity is greater than water's. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 If you get fishing line wet you must discard it or the planet may stop rotating. (At least that's what I've read on the interweb)... 1 Quote

WhiteMike1018 Posted March 25, 2016 Author Posted March 25, 2016 i took you guys advice and put the oven on 400F for 15 minutes to dry it out, reels spooled up, heading out tomm, tight lines 1 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I'm surprised they didn't melt at 400, but I am sure that line sitting in the lake water in your live well isn't any different than fishing with it in the same water. Quote

The water will have no impact on the line and "cooking it" is just joking around. Quote

Well if he did, we will know when he gets back from his fishing trip early and angry at which time we will advise him to soak all of his line for 30 min in lake water to re-hydrate it and reverse the damage from the oven.....lol 2 Quote
