I just ordered a Lowrance Elite 5 HDI (all I could afford) and I need help on where to mount the transducer.. As you can see my boat has had a transducer mounted before in 2 different spots. Should I mount it where the top holes are or the bottom by the drain plug? Or somewhere else? Thanks

If you want any sonar readings when the boat is on plane, it needs to be at the bottom of the hull which is the lowest location.

It is physically impossible to get Depth/ Sonar at speed with it at the top location.

I figured that's where it needed to go, just wasn't sure because of the way it's configured right there. Thanks

I would repair both set of holes with fiberglass resin before installing the new one. I would get a plastic transom plate to mount this way no more drilling into your boat for future mountings

Yeah I'm definitely going to fix the holes I hadn't noticed how bad they were..
