Comfortably Numb Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 March in Virginia. A week of warm weather and the water warmed to 61*. Bass were shallow and easy to catch. Cold front came through and stayed cooler about a week. Water temp back down to 50*. Slowly gettin back to 55* last few days. Where would you be lookin for bass and what baits. TY Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 I caught a lot yesterday in less than 2' on a spinnerbait. Some were caught in the 6'-8' range with my avatar presentation. I just let my electronics find them, then caught them. 2 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 Same thing has happened here. I am finding my fish in the first third of coves and even back all the way out to the main lake, but the key for me has been steep banks! Jeff 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 24, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 24, 2016 Our fish don't know any better. Still less than 5' of water and aggressive, almost all of them in the back 1/2 of the pockets and coves. I'll know if that's still the case in a couple hours. Little snow this morning, 15-30mph winds from the NW, and a high of 51 but only going to feel like 40 so that might back them off a bit. 1 Quote
bassheel Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Same conditions here in NC. Water cooled a bit. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 Two weeks ago the bass were in shallow, in the dead lily pads. Last week it snowed so they could be anywhere now. 1 Quote
Baehr Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 same here in Louisiana it's rainin like crazy and the cold fronts aren't making it easy Quote

Yup, they are sulking with their bellies on the bottom in shallow water here. a slow (and I mean slow) rolled spinnerbait right on their nose has been the trick. We have a warming trend, and the back side of the moon coming up, so I'm thinking its gonna giddy up. The only issue, is if it warms up quick again, they may go right to the nests for real this time. Super User Catt Posted March 24, 2016 Super User Posted March 24, 2016 I would look at the first or second break line away from where they were! 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 25, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 25, 2016 Biggest bass of the year on my bladed jig today in less than 5' in the 34 degree air and 50 degree water. Our dumb bass just must not know any better. Quote
