Schuyler co Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Headed to Pigeon Forge middle of next week and looking for recommendations on places to fish for trout or smallies. I'm not a fly fisherman, I'll have my bass fishing gear, so tips on technique/equipment would be appreciated. Thanks!! Quote
Al Wolbach Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Your best bet for that area is trout fishing but the regulations are complicated(barbless hooks, artificial only, etc). If you are driving in on I-40 you will take exit 407 to Pigeon Forge. There is a Bass Pro Shop at that exit and if you go to the fishing dept they will show you on a map where to fish and the regulations. There are some bass waters in the area but I do not know them. You can also get a license at BPS and any necessary hardware. Quote
atcoha Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 was lucky enough to be there this past weekend til wed. We got snow up above gatlinburg. We went to cade's cove and had a great time having snowball fights and ninja kicking snowmen. 1 Quote
Brayberry Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 fish anywhere in or near gatlinburg with a ultralight spinning rod, 4 lb test, and small crappie jigs or rooster tails and you'll do great on trout. I make the same trip every year, and the Little Pigeon River is loaded with trout Quote

However, the regs for fishing, change a lot depending on where you fish such as in the park, Gatlinburg city, Sevier county, Pigeon Forge etc. You can only use barbless hooks in one area, no artificial bait in one area, no treble hooks in one area. Better check as the fines could ruin a short fishing trip, especially in the park, it is federal. Quote
Western-Mass-Bass Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Of course, your not to far from Douglas either? Thought you could rent boats there to. Quote
