ibobpeb Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 The other day I was fooling around with a Barbie spincast combo and HOLY COW it was fun fishing it like I wanted to break it. I landed a 3.5 pound largie and had me smiling from ear to ear. I had 20 lb power pro super slick spooled on, flipping and pitching at weed beds. Anyway, I have high end and middle tier Megabass, St Croixs, Dobyns, Daiwas, Shimanos.. but I've never had as much fun as that Barbie combo. Does anyone have the Zebco Omega ZO2? I'm thinking I need to take my spincasting game up a level. 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 You have some quality rods. Why would you mount a Zebco on one of them? It isn't going to add any more fun to catching. If it's fun fishing you're after, pick up an ultra light combo. A good one. Spool it up with 6lb. YZ Ultra Soft and have a blast. Don't bother with the Zebco, it'll let you down at the most inopportune times. You'll hear guys that land 20lb.+ cats with one on a regular basis, but they aren't using the line you would be and they don't rely on a smooth drag the way you will. 3 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 23, 2016 Global Moderator Posted March 23, 2016 My father in law has a couple. I fished with one a time or two to feel what they were like. They handle very nicely and are simple to use. Left something to be desired in the casting accuracy and IPT department though. Quote

Like the ultralight suggestion but I would bump the line down to 2-4lb test for some drag screaming fun. I've played with the zo3 in my shop and its a pretty cool reel. Extra spool and handle included. I've thought about buying one for a future kid of mine but by then they'll probably come out with something better. Quote
